Devon Rex kittens like all cats are born unable to hear or see, their eyes are closed and their ears are small and flat to their heads. The legs are weak and coordination is not so good. For the first weeks kittens are helpless, they depend on their mothers care - warmth and milk. Kittens can only feel smells to recognize their mother and to find tasty milk nipples. Kittens can purr while having a milk and meow when cat mother takes care of them. Kittens can't defecate themselves, cat mother licks kittens and help them with it. For the first weeks most of the time kittens are only sleeping and having milk. Cat mother spends all time with kittens in her nesting area, she can only leave kittens for 5-10 minutes. Devon Rex kittens open their eyes sooner than other breeds - between three days to a week old. Same happens with ears, they too flip upright and start to get bigger and bigger with every day. In about two - three weeks old kittens will be able to hear some sounds.
